Fashionable Leather Wallets

Wallets are usually made of leather. Among all materials used in making wallets, leather certainly stands out. In fact, the very first wallets in history were made of leather. Wallets came into being right after paper currency was introduced in the West. This was in the seventeenth century. In fact, the first paper currency, which preceded leather mens wallets but not by much, was made of corn paper in 1690 in the Massachusetts Bay colony. Prior to that, the only currency known were coins and leather pouches were what the people used to store them in. The earliest leather wallets were made from the skin of cows or horses.

If the first wallets were for storing paper currency and coins, today's leather wallets are not that different except for the card slots that became popular after credit cards have been introduced in the early '50s. Another notable change in wallet varieties was in the 1970s when Velcro wallets introduced. Wallets nowadays come in different shapes, sizes, and designs.

so slim they are barely noticeable. There are leather wallets that are so thin it is easier for the owner to hide it. There is another variety of wallets that has a leather string attached designed to be hung around the neck and concealed under the clothes also for the same purpose.

Men's wallets are pretty basic. A bifold is good enough for them. For women, their wallet should go with their attire, the occasion, and how much they are carrying with them. Here are the different traveling wallets for women:

* The thin wallet is very flat, somewhat rounded, and is space-saving. The front pocket wallet can hold the standard wallet content of ID cards, credit cards, cash and coins and is usually made of Napa leather. This is designed for women on the go. They are available in black, cocoa brown, or with a combination of trendy colors like blue, green, and pink. You can even customize it by having your initials embossed on it.

* There's also the travel wallets by Tony Perotti. It has three zipped partitions for bills, cards, and change. It has a front flap to secure the compartments well. This is also available in black and brown colors.

* Another kind of wallet, the Ultimo leather weekend wallet, is ideal for trips. It is also able to hold the usual cash, cards, and change and other stuff you might want to put in, and what's really great is you can lug it around inconspicuously. Of course this is made of fine leather, and they are available in cognac, black, and brown colors.

* The classic all-in-one wallet is the money clip wallet. You can carry it anywhere. It has a clip at the center to hold your cash and additional compartments for cards and change. You can get them in black, honey, and brown colors.

* Another weekend wallet, also created by Tony Perotti, comes only in brown and that's Rustico's Leather weekend wallet. This is an elegant and easy-to-carry wallet. It has two center compartments, two credit card slots, and on the back side is an ID window.
